As an IDEA member company, SMT fully supports and implements the 72 point “Recommended Best Practices” component inspection procedures that are outlined in the IDEA 1010-A standard. All seven of SMT's senior Quality Technicians have successfully passed this comprehensive inspectors' exam.

Part of SMT’s commitment to quality is its focus on ESD safety. Before any employee is allowed to enter the component inspection, testing, packaging or warehousing areas, they must first pass through a custom designed and built “ESD Airlock System”.

This mandatory electronic test point requires that both footwear and wrist straps are in place and properly grounded before the ESD test system releases the electric door strike granting access to these critical component handling areas.

Our Quality Technicians rigorously inspect and document all incoming and outgoing components for proper packaging, condition, count, authenticity and overall quality.

To track inventory movement through the warehouse, SMT utilizes the latest warehouse barcode scan system from Symbol Technologies. This software tracks bin locations, manufacturer, part number, FIFO layer, quantity, date codes, order numbers and customer internal part numbers.
